3 Steps to change your last name after your wedding December 22, 2008

okay.. so after doing a lot of research I found out that is simpler than it looks to change your last name.

If you want to keep your last name and just use a hyphen, then the process is different because you have to go to court and to tell you the truth is a hassle… so this is how to do it if you just simply want to change it to your new Mrs.

Step 1 — Get court copies
After you got married at court they give you 3 copies of your marriage certificate. Make sure you have them because this is the most important think and proof of your new last name. Once you have this paper you are officially Mrs.—- but to make it legally read on to step 2.

Step 2 — Social Security
first think you need to do is change your last name on your social security card. so grab your passport or birth certificate and head on to the closes social security office. (find out where is the closes one to you by typing your zip code.  You can fill in the application when you get there or you can download it from their website and have it ready download here They will send you your new card in the mail in 2 weeks.

Step 3 – Driver’s License
Once you have your social security card, make an appointment with the DMV. Grab your passport or birth certificate, your social security card, $10 bucks, a copy of the marriage certificate, and your old driver’s license. they will give you a new card instantly and its official.

Your’ done! Now, you can go to the banks and any other places you have accounts at and request your name to be changed. Some places will ask for a copy of your marriage certificate, others with just showing your social and Driver’s license will do.

Hope this helped you.. if it did.. i appreciate if you stumble it! Stumble It!

Easy to Follow Wedding Checklist October 1, 2008

Stumble It!

We got engaged! whohoo!! now what? after the celebration of the engagement the feeling of panicking and stress comes, what flowers do I choose? what colors fits me best? mermaid dress or princess puffy? long train, short train? what about the veil? and the flower baskets? I mean the list goes on and on and on. So after reading many wedding checklists for my own wedding as well as to help my sister with hers I created my own. (I know, one more check list to add to the search engine). My goal is to make a short and sweet, step by step checklist with all the info you need to start planning the biggest day of your life!

Step 1: Gather Your Dreams
Choose if you want an intimate ceremony and reception or if you want a big one? This will help you find how many guests you will have. Also, do you want a winter wedding, fall? choose your date. and lastly for step one.. Choose your officiant.

Step 2: Crunch your Number
Once you have your guest number, create a budget. There are tons of sites out there to get this, they usually tell you what percentage of the wedding budget goes where. This is to keep the wedding on budget and separate a budget for all the details of your day.

Step 3: Find your Castle
With this budget and the number of guests, you can start looking at wedding venues. some weddings will have two different venues, the wedding ceremony and one for the reception. They could be in the same hotel but some companies charge separate for both spaces, so make sure you ask, it also depends on the season so ask if they have availability and discounts for your date.

Step 4: How Big is Your Rainbow
Now that you have a reception venue, you can see what colors coordinate with the place as well as your dreams. so this is the step where you get to choose your color scheme.

Step 5: Mirror Mirror on the Wall
By having the venue and the colors you can now choose your dress and the dress of your bridesmaids. You know the weather so you know what style of dress will be appropriate for your bridesmaids and the colors. Your dress? its up to you.. make sure you try ALL OF THEM! the ones that you liked the ones that you don’t…..they say that brides usually pick one that was not their dream gown as well as one that they didn’t like in the hanger first….. (just a tip…) so try them all and take some pictures if you are allowed.

Step 5: Blossom
afte you have your venue, flowers, colors, you are almost halfway done. Select your flowers. Remember that not all flowers are available for all season so talk to you florist to see what is available. With this you can also come up with the flora center pieces, bouques to match your dress and the one from your bridesmaids as well as the venue.

Step 6: Its all about the Details
Okay.. so the big things are done.. focus on the details now and make this wedding your own special day, personalize it as much as you want, choose your cake, your flower baskets, your table linens, and everything else to put together your day. Don’t forget to start thinking about personalizing your day with a wedding slideshow… its a must do this days… surprise your guest with a one of a kind wedding slideshow made by one of our professionals.

Ohhh I forgot… do you need a Dj??? call him when you are done with your flower lady!

(My next post will be how to personalize your wedding with easy to do and inexpensive crafts.. if you are interested in knowing when this has been posted, send me your email and I will keep you updated)

Wedding slide show is becoming very popular in a wedding. It nearly becomes a must in a wedding. Some couples will compose their wedding photos to make the wedding slide show while some may use the photos in their childhood to compose the slide show. Every couple may want to have a special and unique wedding slide show. One natural question from these couples will be “With these different options, how can a more special one be produced?”

Most couples will make the wedding slide show really a “slide show“. This is very good in a sense that the guests can concentrate on the photos and memories of the bride and the groom. The key of making it special is the choice of photos and the sequence of displaying them.

If photos of the childhood will be included, the most natural flow will be showing the photos of childhood till the wedding. Normally, the photos of the bride in the childhood can be firstly shown, and then photos of the groom. Then photos of them after they got together will be shown and at last the wedding photos.

Some may find this flow too natural that it may become boring for the guests. It is true since the guests may not know what the couple looked when they were small. The guests may not be interested to see their photos when they were babies. In fact this happens mainly because the guests cannot really engage into the show. A good voice over may help in this case.

The best way of making this voice over is a live voice over by the couple. They try to explain the background of some of the photos, if not every photo, during the slide show. It will be extremely touching and romantic when the couple talks about how they met during the show.

It will be very suitable if the couple can do the voice over. However, sometimes a couple may not be very good at delivering speeches. Such a “job” of doing voice over will become something very difficult for the couple. If this is the case, it will be also perfect to have a good friend, who is good at delivering speeches, to do the voice over for the couple. If the parents would like to be involved, it will be even more interesting for the parents to do the voice over. This will make the wedding more memorable to the guests, as well as to both the couple and their parents.

Another good way to make a special wedding slide show is to make the show a story. The couple can firstly think of a story and then show the photos in this “story”. This way of making the wedding slide show is in fact less common. However, it can deliver a quality like a movie and it can be sure that it will be very romantic and memorable. This will impress the guests very much.

One example of this will be a story like a fairy tale. Say, we imagine that the couple is eighty years old and then they start to talk about what they “did” in the past. This includes how they met and what they did in childhood. Then they start talk about their wedding, and this will mark the beginning of their wedding ceremony.

To make this kind of wedding slide show, the service provider may need to take a short video of the couple. For the above example, they may need to take a video in a park. The couple is sitting on a bench and do some make up such that they look like an old couple in their eighties. A good communication between the service provider and the couple will be extremely essential.

In a nutshell, a wedding Slide show is a very good entertainment to the guests in a wedding. It can heat up the atmosphere of the wedding and it makes the wedding more enjoyable. A special and unique show will make the wedding even more memorable, romantic and interesting. The only rule to make the show special is sincere and imaginations. If the couple really wants to tell their story with the greatest sincere, and tries to combine this with their imagination, the wedding slide show should become the most unique one in the world.

How to Plan a Mitzvah September 17, 2008

A Bar-Mitzvah is the ceremony of a 13-year old boy. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate the coming of age. This religious observance is important for the faith of this group of people. It is vital to plan a Bar-Mitzvah accordingly to the ancient practices and to be a part of this event.

An individual could complete this goal with limited or a lot of effort. It is a simple step in ensuring the young man enters adulthood painlessly. It is vital to begin planning this party at least a year in advance. The arrangements are an important step to ensuring each guest will enjoy wishing this boy well into adulthood. The child needs to be completely aware of all the arrangements and who is invited. It is his party, do not try and control it. With guidance the young man will be able to decide what he would like.

It is vital to contact a temple a few years before the child turns 13. This method will assist the parents in all the correct traditions and techniques that go into planning a special party of this nature. Formal lessons are available 1 year before the ceremony begins. This is an important step for the traditions to have a successful Bar-Mitzvah.

Hiring a party planner for this event is an excellent idea. They will give insightful information on the food, decorations and entertainment. This individual should be hired about one year before the festivities. The guest list should begin at the start of the planning, however the invitations should not go out until around the 6 month mark. The hall should be reserved about 7 months in advance. This will be helpful in deciding the food preparations and clothing attire.

The kosher food list and supplies should be marked out within 3 weeks of the big day. The party planner will seek out the caterer and make all the necessary arrangements. The food is a vital part of the Bar-Mitzvah festival.

A photographer or a film technician are important for lasting memories of this event. The party planner should hire all the necessary people to the young man’s lifestyle and the budget of the parents.

With a formal affair as important as this is, planning is the most vital aspect. With a party planner, an individual and his parents can enjoy the festivities more than going alone. The ideas and thoughts of the young man is an excellent way to experience his own ‘coming of age’ ideas.

This is a significant time is a boy’s life. The party planner must be reliable and well recommended. Ask questions and be sure to check-up on this individual. If things are lacking seek out other assistance. This only happens once in a lifetime, be sure it is the most spectacular party imaginable for the guest of honor.
